Victoria & Albert Museum colourful bikes display local craft

This summer eight designers have participated in Daytrippers, a collaboration between V&A Dundee and Local Heroes aimed at supporting Scottish designers by commissioning contemporary, limited-edition souvenirs. These will be displayed and sold outside V&A Dundee until the end of September, bringing exciting design outdoors to the museum’s picturesque waterfront location.

Kate Scarlet HarveyLauren Morsley and Katie Smith have each designed a bold and beautiful beach towel that will bring a burst of colour to your beach or poolside presence. Fiona MoonKlara Sormark and Shweta Mistry have each designed a bespoke seed box featuring native wildflowers that support local wildlife, from Angus-based Scotia Seeds.

Aymeric Renoud
of Draff worked with Martin Baillie to design custom mobile displays. Two iconic Christiania cargo bikes have been carefully adapted to display the special commissions. They will traverse the V&A Dundee plaza, where visitors can find out more about the designers from Local Heroes friendly ambassadors and purchase a collectable souvenir.

If you cannot make it to Dundee, you can purchase the beach towels and the seeds packets from the V&A shop.
